ESHINE / Healthcare
Specify the surface. Review the whole system.
A careful starting point for care environments: define the intended use, cleaning protocol and evidence required before selecting a material.
THE APPLICATION
Begin with the care setting's requirements.
Healthcare interiors include public reception areas, staff workstations, wash areas and more specialized clinical spaces. These settings do not share one universal surface specification. The responsible design, facilities and infection-prevention teams should define the intended use, cleaning regime and required documentation before a particular product or fabricated assembly is approved.
Solid surface may be considered for selected applications because its smooth, nonporous surface and fabrication possibilities allow designers to review joints, transitions and cleanable forms together. Those characteristics do not establish antimicrobial action or clinical suitability on their own. ESHINE invites project-specific discussions supported by the documentation available for the actual material; no healthcare certification or installation performance is claimed by this guide.
MATERIAL & DETAIL
Why choose solid surface?
Details designed around cleaning
A wash-area or worktop design can reduce awkward ledges and review how corners are reached during cleaning. The surrounding fittings and interfaces matter as much as the surface. A continuous-looking finish does not remove the need for an approved cleaning protocol and a properly maintained installation.
A considered public environment
Reception and waiting areas can use a quiet material palette with furniture and counters developed around their users. Balance visual calm with the operational brief, including circulation, contact points and service access. Review requirements by location rather than treating every healthcare area as the same application.
Fabrication around a defined brief
CNC machining and cut-to-size supply can help coordinate openings, equipment positions and repeat components. Suitable curved or joined details can be reviewed separately. Every detail should be checked against the cleaning, maintenance and evidence requirements established for the proposed assembly and its specific use.
DESIGN POSSIBILITIES
Different zones need different decisions.
Reception and administrative surfaces
A public-facing counter needs visitor access, staff working space and equipment coordination. Define the expected contact and cleaning conditions, along with any accessibility requirements. The front enclosure, working top and supporting casework may need different details even where they share a coordinated surface appearance.
Wash areas and integrated details
Review bowl geometry, splash management, tap placement and all connections with the clinical and building-services teams. An integrated appearance alone does not establish a suitable handwashing station. Specify the required fixtures and cleaning access, and obtain project approval for the complete proposed wash-area arrangement.
Workstations and fitted components
For staff or support areas, begin with workflow, equipment and the materials likely to contact the surface. Identify penetrations, removable panels and inspection needs. Repeat components should follow an approved schedule so that location-specific requirements are maintained throughout fabrication, packing and installation.
MATERIALS & SPECIFICATIONS
Define the details.
Evidence for the selected material
Request the technical information and any relevant test reports available for the exact product. Confirm scope, test method and applicability with the project team. Do not transfer another brand's certifications to ESHINE, or infer compliance from a general description of the solid surface material category.
Cleaning and chemical compatibility
Supply the proposed cleaning agents, concentrations, contact times and routines for review. Nonporosity does not guarantee resistance to every chemical or disinfectant. Where compatibility evidence is insufficient, the responsible team should define further assessment before material approval rather than assuming a healthcare application is covered.
Construction and maintenance
Coordinate joints, supports, substrates and adjacent sealants with the complete assembly. Thickness, sheet format and any thermoforming need product-specific review. Establish how damaged components would be assessed, repaired or replaced, and which maintenance operations can take place without disrupting surrounding services or required hygiene procedures.

PREPARE YOUR PROJECT
Make the approval requirements explicit.
Send the application zone, drawings, quantities, cleaning protocol and the technical evidence requested by the project. Explain whether the brief concerns reception furniture, staff surfaces or a specialist clinical location. For an OEM or ODM assembly, agree who owns design approval and any required testing. ESHINE can review fabrication scope without presenting a general material description as a substitute for clinical approval.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before you specify.
Is ESHINE solid surface automatically antibacterial?
No antibacterial claim is made here. A smooth, nonporous surface is not the same as a material that kills microorganisms. Confirm any project requirement through applicable product-specific evidence and maintain the approved cleaning and infection-prevention procedures.
Can every hospital disinfectant be used?
Do not assume universal compatibility. Provide the precise products, concentrations and contact times for review against available material information. Some chemicals or exposure conditions may affect appearance or performance. The responsible healthcare team should approve the final cleaning specification.
Does ESHINE have a documented healthcare project in this gallery?
No approved healthcare installation photography is currently provided on this page. The reserved image area is explicitly marked. Discuss your requirements with our team and review product-specific documentation rather than treating a visual placeholder as evidence of a completed clinical installation.
